Murchison is approximately 130km southwest of Nelson, on the river flat at the junction of the Matakitaki and Buller Rivers. State Highway 6 to the West Coast follows the Buller River and traverses some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. The town lies at the southern gateway to Kahurangi National Park. To the east lies Nelson Lakes National Park. |
